Michelle Roise was Ron West’s guest this week. Michelle has organized a nature journaling presentation and workshops with Sandra Muzzy at the Oxbow on August 22 and 23. This is a pre-Chautauqua event in Huot at the Old Crossing Treaty Park. There are workshops for children and for adults. There is still space in the workshops so consider signing up!

Sarah Meisinger, owner of En Liten Svensk (Little Swedish) Shoppe in Roseau, spoke with Ron West this week. Sarah’s shop features and sells many works of area artists. They also hold events where artists demonstrate their craft.

Do you like Minnesota country cooking and murder mysteries? Author Jeanne Cooney was Pioneer 90.1’s Ron West’s guest this week. Jeanne talked about her book series that takes place in northwestern Minnesota. Jeanne also shared information about the writing retreat she attended last summer with financial support of the NWMAC. Jeanne has completed the Teaching Artist Roster Program training offered by the NWMAC and is available to teach school residencies on humor writing.

This week NWMAC Board Member Elwyn Ruud of Karlstad discussed the Artists in Residency opportunities for schools in our area. Elwyn is a regular artist in residency in the Roseau school. She also coordinates residencies for COMPAS. Listen to the podcast to hear all about them.

We had two radio interviews and podcasts this week. First, Ron West spoke with Artist Heather Sabian about her art (made out of goat skin) that is featured in the SKIN exhibit at the Northwest Minnesota Art’s Council Gallery in the Riverwalk Gallery.
