Tending the Creative Soul
For our Tending the Creative Soul we will be exploring "The Practice of Observing Art." The Museum of Fine Arts in Houston Texas has a four step practice of how to "look" at art. We will be experiencing their four steps of Look, Describe, Think, and Connect with various pieces of art. If you have a favorite art piece you would like to share for the practice please "bring" it.
Our next TCS is Wednesday, October 12 from 5:00 to 6:00 PM. This event is online via Zoom. Reach out to Trey for a Zoom invite.
Traveling Art Exhibit
Traveling Art Exhibit Tours NW Minnesota Region
Visits Fosston Public Library
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) sponsors an annual Traveling Art Exhibit, which visits northwest Minnesota communities throughout the year. The exhibit includes 17 original pieces of art by regional adult and student artists, chosen from works submitted for our annual juried exhibit. The exhibit is currently at the Fosston Public Library until November 22. Please stop by to see these works of art. Some of these pieces of art are for sale.

Grant Writing Workshop for Individuals
We are offering a grant writing training for individuals on Wednesday, September 14 at 4:00 PM. NWMAC Director Mara Hanel will walk you through the grant application process and answer all your questions! You can attend the training in person at our office in Warren or meet with Mara virtually. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to write your arts grant!
Tending the Creative Soul
How do the seasons affect your creativity? What is it like to create art on cloudy cold days versus sunny warm days? Do you tend to create more quality art at different times of the year? For our next TCS we will be looking at how weather, times of the year, events and situations affect your creative quality and output. We will also be discussing how to work with those slow and less creative times of the year. Reach out to Trey for a Zoom link.

NW Art Exhibit
The NW Annual Art Exhibit will be on display from March 8 until April 27 at our NWMAC Gallery at NCTC in Thief River Falls. Gallery hours are 8:30-5:00 weekdays and open during events at Northland. The show will end with the artist reception on Wednesday, April 27 in the evening. You will pick up your art on Wednesday, April 27 after the reception. Come see all the talented art from our region!

You are also welcome to come to our office in Warren for the session or to work on your grants in our new setting. RSVPs are required for grant writing sessions to receive a link and/or talk about protocols for attending at our office in person email director@nwartscouncil.org.

Please join other creatives virtually in our region to discuss a certain topic, connect with others, and share. Tending the Creative Soul is the second Wednesday of every month from 5 to 6pm.
Artists of Northwest Minnesota Art Exhibit
The Northwest Minnesota Arts Council (NWMAC) is pleased to announce our latest exhibit – Artists of Northwest Minnesota at our gallery at Northland Community and Technical College, 1101 Highway 1 East in Thief River Falls. This exhibit will run from October 7 through Wednesday, December 1. There are approximately 95 pieces of artwork in this exhibit, many of which are for sale, including metal art, photography, watercolor, acrylic and oil painting, pen and ink, mixed media, pottery, glass work, stone, poetry, children's books, fiction and non-fiction, greeting cards, music, and mosaics created by regional artists.

The NWMAC Gallery is located at Northland Community and Technical College in Thief River Falls. The gallery hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 5:00 pm and at other times when events are held at the college. Enter through Door A. Visitor parking is free at this time in the large end lot.
